The graphic design business is a filthy affair and we are jumping into a new decade where great designers will be setting trends and influencing the minds of the many. While wannabe punks continue to butcher the business with half-assed design and blinding use of typography.
I’ve learned not to pay too much attention to the bums that are taking a dump on our industry. Instead, I have come to appreciate them in some sort of perverse way. See, for them, it’s about money, not passion and cheap whores always burnout sooner or later.
Anyways on with the blog. Here are 3 trends to look out for in 2020.
3D Design

You can’t turn your head without seeing three-dimensional design nowadays and this trend isn’t going anywhere. The depth in the composition is eye-catching and makes the user want to reach out and grab it. Not to mention the 3D design is user-friendly with almost any font!
Street Art

Street art has a retro feel to it and you’re gonna be seeing a lot more designers playing off the 70’s punk theme. While incorporating 90’s grunge. Why? Because we need a rebellion. Society has become soft and everyone wants a trophy for doing nothing. Expect designers to express themselves in a rebellious way in 2020.
Typography

Graphic Designers have been using typography to influence users for longer than I can remember, and it’s coming back with a vengeance! Expect to see modern compositions from heavy fonts and lettering, with an artistic twist in 2020.
Conclusion
I’ve always believed that the creative community should rid mangy mutts and posers from the industry, but I’m not convinced of that anymore. Because like any sort of life-threatening disease we need these losers. Not because they’re gonna make good designers look great with these design trends in the coming year, but because they put cheap clients out of business and I won’t lose any sleep over that.
